"Evidence will have to be given as to what sort of influence or political importance this family has. Also evidence will have to be given as to the actual availability of a place to go for women who have been treated in the way this claimant has."
"11. The CIPU Report spells out in detail the position of women in Pakistan at the moment. Furthermore I was provided with the Amnesty International document April 2002 dealing with Pakistan and insufficient protection of women. As was pointed out in the case of Shah and Islam the position of women in Pakistan is appalling. The CIPU Report refers to the fact that some 70% to 80% of women are the victims of domestic violence. Furthermore the position of women's rights in Pakistan is so far behind that of men's that it seems impossible for women to contemplate leading an independent life. When I combine the objective evidence with the account given by NM, I am satisfied that she has established that she has a well-founded fear of persecution. No separate consideration needs to be made of her human rights save to say that clearly if she were to be returned there would b a possible breach of her Article 2 and Article 3 rights."
