[1]APPEARANCES For the Appellant MR JOHN CAVANAGH (Of Counsel) Instructed by Messrs Gregory Rowcliffe and Milners Solicitors 1 Bedford Row London WC1R 4BZ JUDGE LEVY We have before us today the Preliminary Hearing of an Appeal by Miss McDonagh (General Secretary of the Labour Party) against Mr Ishaq following a decision of an Industrial Tribunal which was promulgated on 2 May 2000 after a hearing which went on for some days.[2]Having read the Skeleton Argument lodged by Mr Cavanagh seeking for the matter to go to a full hearing, we are all satisfied that all issues were raised in a Notice of Appeal which should properly go to a full hearing.[3]Mr Cavanagh raises within the body of his Skeleton Argument questions about Chairman's Notes. He, like us, wants to keep any request to the Chairman to a minimum. We would therefore ask that the Appellant writes to the Respondents stating on the matters on which they seek agreement to avoid the need of the Chairman's Notes. If no such agreement is reached, the Appellant should advise the Tribunal, who will then contact the Chairman to ask him to give such notes, as an essential to the hearing of the Appeal.[4]We direct that Skeleton Arguments and chronology be prepared (the latter if possible agreed by the parties) to assist those hearing a full Appeal.
