‘I noticed the tree. The foliage was shaking dramatically; not shimmering as in a breeze but it was moving. It was low. I felt as if I didn’t duck I would hit the foliage, which I did. I was firmly sitting in the saddle, as I approached the branch I crouched, and then leant back when under the branch. I felt the foliage rub against the back of my clothing. I had a great sigh of relief; my blood was really racing. I felt I was in danger.’
