Rex v Harley Thomas Jones [2022] EWCA Crim 1344
[1]Mr Alfred, it is a matter for the applicant whether he wishes to abandon, and his reasons are doing so are really, again, a matter for him. But thank you very much for explaining them.[2]We have, as I have said, had an opportunity to have a little bit of advanced notice, so we have considered the position. Because the abandonment is coming at this late stage, you need the leave of the court, but we grant that leave. I am sure that Mr Jones understands that that means that that is the end of all the appeal proceedings. They cannot be resurrected hereafter.[3]MR ALFRED: He does understand. I should have started by apologising for the lateness of the application.LORD JUSTICE HOLROYDE: Do not worry. We understand. All right. We grant leave to abandon and the appeal will be abandoned accordingly
[5]MR ALFRED: Thank you. ________________________________ Epiq Europe Ltd hereby certify that the above is an accurate and complete record of the proceedings or part thereof.
