JUDGMENT
[1]The Claimant pursued a claim against the Respondent for breach of contract. At the outset of the hearing, it was confirmed with the Claimant that the only claim he was pursuing was for breach of contract.[2]The Employment Tribunal Act 1996 and the ETs Extension of Jurisdiction (England & Wales) Order 1994 confer jurisdiction on the Employment Tribunal to hear breach of contract claims brought by employees.[3]The Claimant was not an employee of the Respondent. It was agreed by the parties that the Claimant was a worker in accordance with section 230(3) of the Employment Rights Act 1996.[4]As the Claimant was not an employee the Employment Tribunal does not have jurisdiction to hear his claim for breach of contract and this claim is dismissed.
