The Employment Tribunal Rules of Procedure 2013 include in rule 37 power to strike out a claim. This claimant issued claim number 2500604/18 which was heard by Employment Judge Bauer on 11 May and an award made in the claimant’s favour. A colleague of the claimant Ms P Hill issued claim number 2500608/18 and included Ms Hassan as a second claimant. That claim was given number 2500609/18. In an earlier order sent to Ms Hassan I indicated I was considering striking this claim out purely on the basis it is an erroneous duplication. Employment Judge Bauer did not have the file on this case number before him when he dealt with 2500604/18. Had he seen it, he would doubtless have dismissed this claim as a duplicate This strike out is therefore a matter of administrative tidiness and no criticism of the claimant. TM Garnon
