JUDGMENT

The respondent is ordered to pay the claimant a redundancy payment in the sum of £11,250.

REASONS

[1]The claimant was employed by the respondent as a coach driver from 9 May 2005. He was made redundant on 25 October 2020 and has claimed a redundancy payment. The respondent has filed a response to the claim and admits his liability to pay a statutory redundancy payment. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, orders had dried up.[2]The claimant was paid £500 gross per week. He was employed for 15 complete years at dismissal. He was aged 69 at dismissal, so is entitled to one and a half weeks pay for each of the 15 years served. The redundancy payment calculated in accordance with section 162 of the Employment Rights Act is is £500 x 1.5 x 15 = £11,250.[3]As Judgment has been given, there will be no hearing on 29 January 2021.
