JUDGMENT
The Respondent made an unlawful deduction from the Claimant’s wages and is ordered to pay the following to the Claimant:• Unpaid wages of £1909.60. This is a gross figure and should be paid less deductions for tax and NI contributions.REASONS
(1) The Claimant was employed as a Junior Backend Developer by the Respondent from 27 April 2021 and 24 December 2021.(2) The Claimant claims for £1909.60 of unpaid wages covering the period of 23 November to 23 December 2021.(3) The Respondent has failed to present a Response to the Claim and did not attend today’s hearing. Case No: 2200550/2022(4) An email was sent by the Respondent to the Tribunal on 13 April 2022 which did not copy in the Claimant. It stated “We would like to pay and close this matter asap. What is the disputed amount and what is the bank account number to transfer the money to?” The Respondent was directed by the Tribunal to communicate directly with the Claimant if it wished to settle this claim.(5) The Claimant confirmed today that he had not received any communication from the Respondent. He confirmed that all efforts on his part to communicate with the Respondent since the termination of his employment have been unsuccessful.(6) I heard evidence on oath from the Claimant that confirmed the contents of his claim and clarified the figure claimed as being £1909.60.(7) I therefore make a finding that the Respondent made an unlawful deduction of £1909.60 from the Claimant’s wages.
