Mr A Roach v The Chief Constable of South Wales Police: 1600419/2017

EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNALS
Case No 1600419/2017
Mr A RoachClaimantThe Chief Constable of South Wales PoliceRespondent
Employment Judge S Davies DateDate 25 June 2018

JUDGMENT

The claimant’s application dated 31 May 2018 for reconsideration of the judgment on a preliminary issue sent to the parties on 20 May 2018 is refused.

REASONS

There is no reasonable prospect of the original decision being varied or revoked, because (adopting the numbering in the claimant’s application, for ease of reference):[1]I weighed all relevant evidence I was referred to, both medical and otherwise, which included the medical evidence of Dr Thomas (paragraph 26);[2]I believe that appropriate weight was attached to Dr Thomas’ evidence; 3. my conclusion with regard to the ability of a police officer to bring a claim of ‘ordinary’ unfair dismissal remains unchanged (paragraphs 20 – 25); 4. the scope of the preliminary issues was narrow (paragraph 1 (1–4)). I was not required to look at the substance of the complaint of unfairness.
