JUDGMENT

[1]The respondent subjected the claimant to direct race discrimination by:a. Denying him the opportunity to apply for an associate professorship, andb. Awarding an associate professorship in August 2021 to another candidate - Katherine Hyatt - based on different conditions than those that were imposed on the claimant.[2]The other claims and allegations brought by the claimant are dismissed.[3]The respondent shall pay to the claimant compensation for injury to feelings of £18000.[4]The respondent shall pay the claimant interest on the above in the sum of £3590.14 (calculated at 8% from 30 April 2021 to 26 October 2023).[5]The total sum to be paid to the claimant by the respondent for injury to feelings inclusive of interest is £21590.14. The recoupment provisions do not apply to this award.
